In a novel change to their usual venue, North Wales Crusaders women's team trained on Prestatyn beach this week in their final preparations for Saturday's clash at Heysham Atoms.
They are aiming to make it five wins out of five by securing a double against their Lancashire opponents who they defeated 28-18 in the club's very first game in June.
Head Coach Becki Davies explained the rationale:
"We've always wanted to create a friendly atmosphere, which encompasses a family feeling. The idea to go and do a session on the beach was to strengthen that; to solidify our already strong camaraderie and continue to build on our teamwork.
"Basically, we just wanted the girls to have fun and enjoy their training and rugby league, which is essentially what it's all about. Going in to our penultimate game on the weekend, we are still, unfortunately, struggling with injuries and absent players, however we've got some fantastic players in the squad and I am confident the girls will do their best, and give it all they've got, to continue our winning streak.
In their four victories to date, Cru have run up 32 tries with captain and full-back Stevie Donougher leading the way with 8 touchdowns. Goalkicker Sioned Phillips has landed 22 conversions. The side's final match is the return with Rochdale Mayfield on Sunday August 20th, venue to be confirmed.
