North Wales Crusaders duo Barratt and Eckley pen new deal which sees them both commit to the club

Chris Barratt has committed his future to North Wales Crusaders, extending his stay with the club by another season.

The prop, who can also play in a number of other positions across the forward pack, joined Crusaders ahead of the 2020 campaign from Coventry Bears, where he was captain.

Barratt said, "I'm happy to return for another season and looking forward to playing in front of amazing supporters with the aim to go one step further again next season.

Barratt made 18 league appearances in 2022, scoring 7 tries.

Alex Eckley has also confirmed he will be staying with the club in 2023.

The 2021 player of season winner had an impressive season by scoring 11 tries in 18 league appearances last season.

Eckley said, "I’m made up to staying for another year at Crusaders."

I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do in the 2023 season and hopefully be challenging in the playoffs again, trying to go better than last season.‘’

CEO Andy Moulsdale; "We are delighted that Chris and Alex have committed themselves to another year at the club. Both had offers from other clubs, which given their performances in 2022 was always going to happen. They are two key players in what we are trying to do next year. As well as their form on the pitch, they are both brilliant people off the pitch, which is essential to our culture.

We have a lot of positive news coming in the next few days, including confirmation of our head coach"
