Carl Forster has sterengthend his squad by adding back rower Matty Unsworth to the North Wales Crusaders squad in 2024.
Unsworth signs from Salford Red Devils where he played regularly at reserve grade where he won "The Reserve Coaches Player of the Year" last season.
Matty Unsworth was ever present last season for the Red Devils reserves and scored 5 tries and was named captain towards the end of the season too.
His pedigree speaks for its self as his individual stats were impressive too as he averaged 40 tackles per game.
The former Shevington Sharks, Wigan St Judes, Ince Rose Bridge and Leigh Leopards player is well respected by his peers at Salford with some calling him a "True professional and a cultural architect as he sets the tone in training and sets the tone on the pitch and is a fantastic team player"
Carl Forster commented
“Matty is a real quality player and have worked on this for a long time, really happy to get it over the line.
He has real leadership skills and is a very skilful player. I’m looking forward to seeing him in a Cru shirt”.
Unsworth commented on his move to North Wales,
‘I’m delighted to sign and with speaking to Foz (Carl Forster) i can’t wait to get stuck into pre-season with lads and hopefully build on the season they had last year .
Im grateful for the opportunity Salford have given me the last couple of years but I’m ready for the new challenge"
